Casey's 5-Alarm Brownie Recipe

Casey is known for her penchant for spice and heat. She has shared her not-so world famous brownie recipe.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons bourbon

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1–2 habanero peppers, very finely minced (seeds removed for less heat, keep some for more kick)

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

    Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8x13 or 9x13 baking pan with parchment or lightly grease it.

  2. Add the vanilla and bourbon. Let the mixture cool slightly so the eggs don’t scramble.

  3. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.

  4. Stir in the flour and salt just until combined.

  5. Add the minced habanero and chocolate chips, stirring gently.

  6. Pour the batter into the pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 28–34 minutes, depending on your pan and how fudgy you like them. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs, not dry.

  8. Cool completely before cutting. The heat blooms as they sit, so the flavor gets even better the next day.
