Meet Jack Calder
Jack Calder grew up in Ohio, where he developed a Midwestern work ethic, an appreciation for quiet neighborhoods, and the ability to survive winters that felt character-building in the worst way. From there he took a hard left turn into the wider world, eventually landing in London, an experience that taught him to walk quickly, speak dryly, and accept that a “queue” can form anywhere, including places no line should reasonably exist.
Today, he lives just outside Washington, D.C., a region known for history, humidity, and traffic patterns so chaotic they should be studied as a form of dark magic. He shares this adventure with his brilliant and endlessly supportive wife, and with his three kids, now in college.
Professionally, Jack is an aerospace and defense consultant with more than 25 years navigating global strategy, technology programs, and meetings that could have absolutely been emails. His career has taken him across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, wandering through airbases, innovation labs, and cities so old they make your soul feel young. He has lived overseas, traveled widely, and developed a deep and unwavering belief that the cultural heart of any place can be found through its food and wine. Preferably in generous quantities.
Jack’s love of history, mythology, and travel eventually collided with an inconvenient amount of imagination, leading him to writing. His novels blend centuries-spanning history with modern urban fantasy, weaving together immortal warriors, ancient brotherhoods, fragile Veil-magic, and the everyday reality of suburban Ohio. He writes stories filled with atmosphere, humor, emotional depth, and characters who are just trying to make good choices in a universe that rarely cooperates.
When he isn’t shaping new chapters, Jack can often be found reading, exploring local restaurants, overanalyzing the wine list, or pretending his frequent-flyer miles are “research related.” On rare occasions he also attempts yard work, but only when absolutely necessary and usually with poor results.
Jack is always delighted to connect with readers, fellow writers, and anyone who enjoys a good story told with heart, history, and a touch of mischief.

What readers are saying
Between the figurative language and the obvious research that went into details, I know that this series is going to be a hit!
WOW! I won't say I binged the entire book in one sitting, because I did stop to have lunch. But I did binge the entire thing in less than a day.
